Hook and loop tape, commonly known as Velcro, is a versatile and reusable fastening system used in a wide variety of applications, from DIY and craft projects to the textile industry in its use on clothing. It is composed of two main parts: one that has small hooks and one with soft loops. When the two parts are pressed together, the hooks hook into the loops, creating a tight, adjustable bond. To separate them, simply pull gently, allowing repeated opening and closing without damaging the materials.
The width can vary according to the need of the project, with one of the most common sizes being 20 mm, although it can be found in various sizes. This material is lightweight but strong, making it suitable for securing light to medium materials, such as fabrics, clothing accessories, sports equipment, cable management, and even industrial or household uses.
One of the main advantages of this type of fastener is its ability to be reused over and over again without losing its effectiveness. It is ideal for situations that require adjustments or where materials need to be frequently joined and separated, such as in sportswear, backpacks, shoes, and everyday products. Its ease of use and durability make it a practical and efficient solution for both professional and personal projects.
We recommend only using a hot glue gun to glue the velcro straps to the materials, instead of using other adhesives such as contact glues or cyanoacrylate glue, or even a self-adhesive that can be included on these straps, as they do not have enough grip strength and end up coming loose.
